Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
It is a wine with ancient origins (1300). It is called "Nobile" because in the old days it was mostly produced by noble families. It is made from Sangiovese grapes, locally called Prugnolo gentile, (minimum 70%), Canaiolo nero (massimo 10%) and eventually other grapes (maximum 20%) recommended and/or authorized by the administration.
It must age at least two years in wooden barrels, the Riserva must age at least 3 years and 6 months in bottles.
Alcohol By Volume: 12.5% minimum, 13% minimum for Riserva
